Abstract : The enantiomers of DL-a-hydroxypalmitic acid, DL-12-hydroxystearic acid, and DL-12-hydroxyoleic acid have been separated by TLC. Conditions for separation of these racemic mixtures by use of a mobile phase containing a chiral compound (a selected amino acid) as additive and on a chiral stationary phase were determined by systematic investigation. Separations were characterized by measurement of RF values and separation coefficients (a). The isomers were also characterized by calculation of their optical topological indexes (Iopt).
